Spam Spam Spam
The last week has been a very busy week for me in regards to spam. As many of you old readers know, this blog, at one time was a Wiki, and before that a message board, and before that another blog. The Gay Handbook has been around for quite some time now, and I am a firm believer in, the longer a domain is active on the Internet, the more prone to spam it is.
My personal website has been online for about eleven years, and I get almost 50-90 spam email a day, and when I do blog on the domain, I get tons of spam hits and posts.
Well, the spam is starting on The Gay Handbook again. The Wiki was such a task to maintain as in regard to the spam; however this blog is a little easier to maintain and fight off spam. The user registration is the current spam attack. The Gay Handbook is getting almost 20 spam registrations a day. In an effort to maintain a slim database (faster load times, for you) I have been deleting the spam registrations and comments daily.
Now, I have modified the registration process to include the visual confirmation as well as an email verification. I welcome anyone to register, just realize the new steps are a necessary evil.
